Lil Wayne is one of the biggest artists out at the moment. In my opinion he is a decent rapper. I don't think he deserves all the credit he gets and he certainly isn't the best rapper alive. But this post isn't about dissing Wayne. Tha Carter III was one of the very few albums to go platinum in its first week. I was a total Wayne hater then but as soon as N-EIGHT made me listen to the cd, I loved it. There were probably more than 20 mixtapes of Wayne out right before and after Tha Carter III. People were going crazy and fiending for Tha Carter III or any Wayne track they could get their hands on. Out of all those mixtapes, one mixtape series stood out the most. This was DJ Empire's The Drought is Over. This series spanned 6 volumes which contained mostly exclusive never before heard material. Wayne has claimed that almost all this material was released without his consent. It most definitely was one of the reasons Tha Carter III had been pushed back time after time. Anyways here is the entire series in 1 link. Download and listen to one of the most monumental mixtape series in the history of mixtapes. All Mixtapes (1-6) are fully tagged with Covers.
